Stay and teach in Scotland

ARROW

Whether you’ve lived here all your life, or you’re new to Scotland – it’s a place with a lot to offer. As a teacher, you’ll be in a position to contribute to our country, our culture, and our economy.

Teaching allows you to be someone who can make a difference. Through your role, you’ll be able to have an impact that spreads outwards from your pupils, and can enrich a whole community.

Scotland may be a small country but we’ve always had big ideas and an incredible history. As a teacher in an inclusive and welcoming environment , you can help shape the future.

"My move to Scotland was the best decision I could have ever made – there’s so much room to grow and my career has completely blossomed."Aoife Lambert - – Primary Teacher at St David's RC Primary School

Staying in Scotland as an EU citizen

There are understandable concerns for teachers who are EU citizens. Rest assured, there is a lot of support available to help you get the information you need and feel secure about staying in Scotland.

EU citizens must apply to the UK Government’s EU Settlement Scheme (EUSS) by 30 June 2021 if they wish to continue living, working and studying in the UK after that date. To be eligible for the EUSS, you have to be resident in the UK by the end of December 2020.

For help and guidance with the steps you need to take to stay, you can access the package of support at Stay in Scotland
